Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been appointed National Youth Coordinator of Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
The nomination was conveyed in a letter to Governor Bello, signed by All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu, in the letter dated August 8, pointed out that Bello, candidate for the presidential primaries in June, deserved this nomination, because of his impressive political achievements and the exemplary leadership he had shown as governor and as party member.
He added that he was confident that the Governor of Kogi State would do his best in the new responsibility entrusted to him so that the party could carry out an effective and message-driven campaign, which would lead to victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Crowds of youths and women across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones had, in the run-up to the APC presidential primary election, shown strong support for the Governor of Kogi State, due to his supportive policies to young people and women.
Party members and analysts described the nomination as a big boost for the campaign, given the prominence of young people in the 2023 elections and the impressive youth-targeted campaigns Bello ran ahead of the primary elections.
The letter, titled “Appointment as National Youth Coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council”, read in part: “Through this letter, we are pleased to officially announce your appointment as the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
“This appointment is fitting and appropriate, given your impressive political achievements and the exemplary leadership you have shown as governor of your state and as a member of the party. Thank you for joining our campaign team. We know you will do your best in this new responsibility, so we are running an effective and message-driven campaign that will lead us to victory in the 2023 presidential election. Together, not only can we secure victory for our party in the February 2023 elections, but we will also carry Nigeria forward on the path to national greatness by building on the achievements of our party and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver progressive good governance to Nigerians…”
