Woodforest launches Giving Tree Initiative to support local charities

As the holiday season begins, several charities and fundraising campaigns in the Conroe and Montgomery area are stepping up their efforts to help communities. (Courtesy of Adobe Stock)

The Woodforest community launched The Giving Tree Initiative on November 1 to support several Montgomery County charities, according to a press release.

The program will set up boxes for physical donations at the Palm Information Center, 251 Central Pine St., Montgomery. For each box filled, Woodforest will donate $ 100 to the receiving charity.

Return trip

The Maternity Journey Home supports pregnant women by providing housing, classes and spiritual support. 832-289-8257 www.voyagehometx.org

Meals on Wheels Montgomery County

Meals on Wheels helps more than 580 homebound seniors in Montgomery County stay in their homes by providing nearly 300,000 meals and nearly 15,000 trips per year. 936-756-5849 www.mowmc.org

Montgomery County Women’s Shelter

This local organization works to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. It receives 2,000 phone calls every month and fills 75 beds almost every night. 936-441-4044 www.mcwctx.org

Operation Live Animals

An all-volunteer nonprofit that strives to elevate Montgomery County to a community without death. www.operationpetsalive.org

Texas Patriots

Offers “boots on the ground” assistance to local veterans and first responders in need. www.patriotsoftexas.org

Toddler toys

The organization delivered 30,716 toys to 8,213 less fortunate children in the Conroe area last year. www.toysfortots.org

Wrapped in heat

A walk through the Montgomery County Community Assistance Center to collect lightly used coats and gloves for the Montgomery County Community Assistance Center, which serves local residents in financial difficulty. 936-539-1096 www.cac-mctx.org
