Senior Assessment and Community Support Officer (SCASO) – 2 role position with Kirklees Metropolitan Council

Site: Mid Yorks Trust which covers Dewsbury District Hospital, Pinderfields Hospital and Pontefract Hospital

In this role, you will work under Mid Yorks Trust which covers Dewsbury District Hospital, Pinderfields Hospital and Pontefract Hospital.

Social work at the hospital is fast, no two days are the same, but when the going gets tough, we’re there for each other.

The way we work, with workers linked to individual services, means that you will build strong working relationships with colleagues in the NHS, helping us to start working with service users as early as possible to help them in the process. possible to get home as quickly as possible with the support they need. We also have a team of Kirklees Independent Living and Care Navigators based with us to give us and our service users quick access to the support they need. Our team also has a dedicated sales support team.

Travel is an essential part of this job, so it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job efficiently if you were not using a car all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driver’s license and it is expected that you use a municipal vehicle or your own car (exceptions can be made for applicants with disabilities).

Requirements for this job:

  • Experience working in a caring environment on a paid or unpaid basis with a relevant service group.
  • An understanding of the legislation, procedures, etc. relating to the group of service users concerned.
  • Ability to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and computer skills to perform assessments and correspondence, complete financial statements and keep accurate records.
  • Computer skills to be able to maintain accurate electronic records.
  • An understanding of the different physical and emotional needs relating to the specific user group.
  • Ability to identify individuals’ social care needs and formulate support plans
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of other agencies and their contribution to service delivery
  • Willingness to pursue personal training and development
