NYSC appoints former Lagos coordinator Megwa as new spokesperson

The National Youth Service Corps has announced the appointment of Eddy Megwa as Director of Press and Public Relations.

Prior to his new appointment, he was the NYSC Coordinator in Lagos State.

A terse statement released Sunday by NYSC Deputy Director (Press and Public Relations) Emeka Mgbemena said Megwa, who graduated from the University of Ilorin in 1989, joined the organization in 1990 as head of information, after one year’s compulsory service to the nation.

According to him, the new spokesperson, a very experienced Nigerian, has traveled extensively and completed several courses inside and outside Nigeria.

He had worked at NYSC secretariats in Rivers, Anambra, Yobe, Borno and Benue states as the head of public relations, according to the statement.

In 2004, Megwa was appointed Protocol Officer to the NYSC CEO, a position he held until 2010, when he was redeployed to the Press and Public Relations Unit at NYSC Headquarters. NYSC National Headquarters, Abuja.

In 2019 he was appointed State Coordinator, NYSC Cross River State and in 2020 redeployed to NYSC Secretariat, Lagos State as Managing Director.

He was promoted to effective director in January 2022.

Megwa, who will take office on Monday, April 11, 2022, comes with a wealth of administrative and public relations experience, according to the statement.

He is married with children.
