This role is suitable for someone with strong organizational and administrative skills already working in or considering a career in edtech/digital education.

The main objective of this role is to provide assistance to staff and students in the production and use of digital learning solutions and the management of technical queries/support related to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) via the ticketing system (training will be provided). The Learning Technology Support Officer (LTSO) will be responsible for providing TEL administration as part of the iTEL Hub team producing educational content and providing digital learning development projects and production requirements of content from two of the world’s leading health faculties. [Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences (FoDOCS) and the Florence Nightingale Faculty for Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC)].

The post holder will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, scholars and professional services staff in the delivery and support of online and blended learning/distance learning programs. Desirable skills include some experience in the design and development of online digital learning resources and activities and an understanding of the technical needs of synchronous and asynchronous teaching sessions. The post holder will also help provide advice and training to students and staff on the use of digital technologies used by the faculties and at King’s, such as virtual learning environment and online assessment technologies . Training in the use of these technologies will be provided, but ideally the candidate will have existing knowledge. The role requires a high level of proficiency in using MSOffice 365 applications (eg Outlook, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint). The incumbent will also provide support to the iTEL Hub Manager and work closely with the Joint Learning Technology Coordinators.

This position will be offered on a permanent contract.

This is a full-time position – 100% full-time equivalent

Main responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the TEL help desk through the ticketing system
  • Update and archive design and development processes and procedures
  • Maintain maintenance of training needs events and TEL appointments on a regular and ad hoc basis
  • Assume responsibility for TEL administration of program/module/course renewal activities
  • Provide general administrative support, including:
  • Updating the team calendar, team events and major project meeting agendas
  • Assistance with the recruitment process
  • Plan, prepare and administer the Digital Education and TEL working group at FNMPC and FoDOCS
  • Management of assets such as TEL equipment and equipment loan for both faculties
  • Take responsibility for product and licensing purchases for the team and faculties
  • Planning, support and training of the clinical e-assessment tool
  • Provide support in TEL projects and consolidation reports for the use of learning technologies and online assessment tools
  • Planning of process fixes, training and planning in both faculties; follow-up of helpdesk solutions,
  • Prepare technology usage reports
  • Help with content production
  • Liaise with stakeholders between other faculties and central teams in support of cross-faculty and central projects
  • Disseminate communications relating to the TEL within the two faculties
  • Support the iTEL Hub Director on education-focused projects related to TELs, assessment and research for faculties.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

  1. Diploma of studies
  2. Efficiency in handling e-learning support requests
  3. Some experience in providing administrative support in an education context
  4. Proficiency in MSOffice application (Office 365 applications) and ICT skills including file conversion, transcription editing and proofreading
  5. Ability to work independently and on own initiative to fulfill general administrative responsibilities
  6. Prepare reports demonstrating skills in presenting data
  7. Be a dynamic and reliable team player helping to deliver project results
  8. Some knowledge in the development of interactive digital learning resources

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in e-learning/educational technology with an understanding of how this applies in the context of higher education
  2. Some skills in developing educational resources and supporting TEL projects
  3. Some experience in the use of technologies, including: virtual learning environment, e.g. Moodle, web conferencing tools (MSTeams)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. During the interview, the candidate will also make a presentation. The details of the presentation will be specified in the interview invitation.

There will also be a test assessing ICT skills and assessing the level of general administration skills and experience.

Interviews will take place the week beginning June 27, 2022. Ideally, candidates should be available to start on short notice.
