At Swindon Borough Council we are bold and ambitious in our plans, with a clear vision and direction for the future. Our status as one of the UK’s fastest growing cities is driving transformational change across our organisation, including within our much-loved children’s and adult social care teams.
Children’s Services – Our Journey of Transformation
There has never been a better time to join our Children’s Services teams as following a recent inspection we have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (July 2019).
Ofsted have recognized that the quality of leadership and management at all levels is an emerging key strength for us here in Swindon and our permanent management team are ambitious, energetic and assured in overseeing and delivering services to children and their families.
The quality of our services has improved significantly over the past 12 months, but we are not complacent and our journey of transformation will continue, to ensure that children receive consistent quality service every day.
This means that we continue to invest heavily in our children’s services teams and in you, through reducing workloads and promoting a culture of learning and challenge, to include the launch of our Social Care & Leadership Academy, providing you with opportunities and support. to develop your career.

Adult welfare has never been more vital. That’s why we focus on early prevention and ensuring that in our communities, the elderly, people with disabilities and vulnerable residents are safe and able to live their lives with as much independence as possible.
At the center of our work is the individual, their strengths and abilities with connections to their family and community, critical in the work we do.
We work with partners and providers to deliver the highest quality support, continually developing our practices and services to flexibly meet the needs of our residents.
Our Adult Social Care teams include: Elderly and Physically Disabled, Hospital, Rehabilitation, Protection, Mental Health, Deprivation of Liberty and Best Interests Assessment.
We offer a stimulating and diverse work environment that will expand your existing skills and knowledge, supporting the development of your career path and social work practice. We aim for excellence and quality in everything we do and professional development is a priority for our teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team and influence how we reshape adult social care to meet the needs of our service users.
Alongside our social work services, we also provide good quality and caring services in the areas of residential care, residential rehabilitation, day services for learning disabilities, short term breaks, shared lives and assisted living.
Our reablement team is highly experienced, dynamic and progressive.
We are a successful team that have managed to ensure that 75% of users of our services have remained independent in their own homes without any formal support.
We are also part of a team that was highly commended by the Health Service Journal in June 2018, for improving the value of care for frail elderly patients.
