Employment as a Construction Design Management (CDM) Project Support Officer with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

As a result of the Grenfell Inquiry, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea understands the opportunity, as well as the need, for innovation and positive change.

We have returned our social housing stock to local authorities and are reviewing the management of our stock to prepare for major new legislation and ensure strict compliance with building regulations.

Construction Design Management (CDM) regulation will be key as we carry out investment and M&E work worth over £300m over the next five years.

The role:

In this brand new role, you will develop robust processes and systems to ensure our accommodation management team complies with CDM regulations.

You will also act as the Designated Lead Designer. This means controlling the pre-construction phase of projects and having a positive influence on health and safety.

As a key player within the Capital Delivery team, you will work alongside various departments, integrating standards and ensuring the work of contractors, as well as external consultants working as lead designers.

You will provide subject matter expertise and regulatory advice to our project managers and front-line procurement specialists.

We will also rely on you to coordinate the delivery of CDM training and awareness sessions.

About you:

We are looking for a self-starter who has the tenacity and organizational skills to make CDM an integral part of our internal work practices.

It’s a role you can make your own.

You will be an exceptional communicator with negotiation skills and strong problem-solving skills.

Experience in a CDM/Principal Designer role is essential, as well as in-depth knowledge of applicable regulations.

You will have a good knowledge of occupational health and safety, a NEBOSH certificate in construction health and safety and an IOSH membership.
