Course/Education Support Officer job at MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY – SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

We are seeking a well-organized and experienced Course/Education Support Officer to provide guidance and support to academic staff in the delivery and coordination of courses and units for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Humanities.

Reporting to the Course Support Team Leader and working within our Course Support Team, this role will contribute to the quality of course delivery and student experience by providing accurate and timely advice and support. course directors, discipline chairs, school or department and unit heads. Convenors on all matters relating to the delivery and administration of courses and units. The role will be responsible for coordinating operational and administrative support throughout the lifecycle of one or more courses, as well as working with academic staff to coordinate annual planning, committee meetings, scheduling and act as a point of contact for teaching staff.

About you

You will have excellent knowledge of higher education course/unit governance policies, processes and structures and proven expertise in providing policy advice and information, preferably within higher education. You will also have a demonstrated track record of supporting the delivery of complex education and/or student services.

Your ability to manage multiple tasks, competing deadlines and your adaptability to changing circumstances will be essential to the successful functioning of the position. Excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus and the ability to work effectively with committees and stakeholders at all levels will be key to success in this role.

  • Diploma or higher degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of policies, processes and governance structures of higher education courses/units
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work effectively with committees and stakeholders
  • Experience providing policy advice and information, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Experience in providing support and advice in the delivery of complex education and/or student services.
  • Experience in developing annual planning documents and project plans
  • Experience in providing high quality data analytics and administrative support
  • Time management and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate and meet competing deadlines
  • Experience in proactively developing and implementing business process improvement
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office and database management systems and applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft documents or submissions.
