DENTON, TX – Joining the North Texas Women’s Basketball Team for the 2022-23 season as Video Coordinator will be a former player, Alexis Hyder. Hyder played for UNT, LSU and played professionally overseas for five years.
“I had the pleasure of recruiting Alexis from North Texas,” head coach Jalie Mitchell said. “Over the past ten years I have seen her compete and contribute to our great game in many ways. I am honored to be a part of her continued basketball career and believe she has a lot to offer our young women. Green Family, please help me welcome Alexis to the Super Pit!”
In her five years of professional playing, she spent three of them in Sweden, one summer in Australia and finished it in Greece. She entered the coaching world as a video coordinator for FIU. She spent one season with the Panthers in 2019.
Hyder was electric for the Mean Green in the 2012-13 season, she averaged 14.2 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and finished seventh in the Sun Belt in blocks. She was a third-team All-Sun Belt conference selection. Hyder finished his career strong, averaging 18 points per game over his last six games, including a career-high 25 points in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament.
A native of Austin, Texas, Hyder graduated from LSU with a degree in sports administration and a minor in business.
